Codex Alimentarius

This blog follows the activities of Codex Alimenarius, which was created in 1963 by two United Nations organizations, the Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Health Organization. Codex develops food standards, guidelines and codes of practice in order to protect the health of consumers, ensure fair food trade practices and promote coordination of food standards undertaken by international governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Why Codex Alimentarius is critical to the United States

Scott Haskell explains why Codex Alimentarius is critical to the United States. Read his blog post here. Learn more about how Codex is applied in Haskell's course on Global Animal Health, Food Safety, and International Trade, or Neal Fortin's course on International Food Laws & Regs this fall semester. We'll also offer a full course on Codexin the spring semester (January 2022).
